Lokve is located in the central part of Gorski Kotar, between Delnice and Fužine, in a valley surrounded by mountains. Lokve is abundant in natural beauty. The area is full of lush forests, meadows, and rivers.

Lokve is known for frogs. Visit the Frog Museum, and at the end of April in Lokve, you can attend the traditional frog long jump competition.

The area around Lokve is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers. Numerous trails are leading through the forests and up to the mountain peaks.

Lokvarka Cave

Gorski Kotar is known for its stunning natural beauty and unique geological features. The cave Lokvarka is one of the most popular caves in Gorski kotar.

The Lokvarka Cave is one of the most beautiful and, simultaneously, the deepest Croatian cave. The Lokvarka cave is declared a natural monument. The cave has six floors in total and four cave floors are available to visitors. The cave has a temperature of 7 to 9 degrees. 

The Lokvarka Cave was discovered by locals in 1911 during limestone mining to produce lime. Since 1912. the cave Lokvarka has been open to visitors. 

So far, the explored part of the cave is 1179 meters long and 275 meters deep.

Golubinjak Forest Park

The Golubinjak Forest Park is also a large clearing surrounded by tall conifer trees and plenty of excursion facilities. The most famous Golubinjak tree is the Fir - Queen of the Forest, a tree that, at the last measurement, had a height of as much as 35 meters and whose age is estimated at 250 years.

The park is located in Gorski Kotar, a region of Croatia known for its lush forests and picturesque landscapes. The area is also home to many species of wildlife, including deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers and even bears.

Golubinjak Forest Park offers visitors a variety of activities, such as hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Lokvarsko Lake

Lokvarsko Lake is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Gorski kotar and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Visitors can enjoy swimming or fishing here or participate in various water sports activities such as kayaking or canoeing.

Lokvarsko Lake is an artificial lake about 40 m deep, which blends in well with the environment.

The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills, making it an ideal destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and fishing.

The lake was created in the 1950s for the hydroelectric power plant.
