Krk is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic — from long pebble coves you can reach by car, to wild bays separated from the world by sea or rugged karst.
Some, like Golden Bay, are accessible only by boat. Others, like Oprna and Vela Luka near Baška, can be reached on foot — but the hike through the karst, especially in summer, is not for everyone.
By boat, you arrive with views of the coastline, islands and open sea along the way. For these beaches, we offer boat trips on smaller and larger vessels — organised and at a relaxed pace.
Browse our selection and find your Krk beach.

Frequently Asked Questions about Beaches on Krk
Are there sandy beaches on Krk?
There are a few sandy beaches on the island of Krk, but they are relatively rare compared to the many pebble coves.
Fully sandy beaches include Sveti Marek in Risika, Pećine in Šilo, Uhlić near Vantačići and Komoriška in the Soline Bay.
Porporela in the town of Krk and Oprna near Stara Baška are a mix of sand and small pebbles. Vela Plaža in Baška and Vela Luka have pebble shores with sandy seabeds.
A special feature is Meline in Soline Bay — a sandy beach known for its shallow waters and natural healing mud pools. Most beaches on Krk are pebble beaches, which is why the sea is exceptionally clear.
Which beaches on Krk are accessible only by boat?
Some of the most beautiful beaches on Krk can only be reached by boat because there is no road access. These include Golden Beach between Punat and Stara Baška, the Pod Črnice cove on the eastern coast of the island, and beaches on the island of Plavnik such as Krušija near the Blue Cave.
Others — including Oprna, Vela Luka near Baška, and several coves along the eastern coast of Krk such as St. Georg / St. Juraj, Ogrul and Vinca — technically have land access, but only via steep trails through rugged karst terrain. For most visitors this makes them practically accessible only by boat.
For all of these destinations we offer organised boat excursions and private taxi boat transfers.
Are there nudist beaches on Krk?
Yes, the island of Krk has several naturist areas with a long FKK tradition. Naturist camps Bunculuka near Baška, Konobe in Punat and Škrila near Stara Baška all have their own naturist beaches. Tomaževo is an independent naturist beach next to the former Politin camp (today Camping Krk).
Outside the camps, some secluded coves along the western and southern coasts of the island are also used by naturists for their privacy, though without official signage or infrastructure.
Can I bring my dog to beaches on Krk?
Dogs are allowed only on designated dog-friendly beaches on the island of Krk.
The most well-known ones include Redagara in the town of Krk, Kijac in Njivice, Mala Krasa in Punat, Punta Šilo in Šilo and a special dog zone at the end of Vela Plaža in Baška. Guests staying in Vrbnik often visit the nearby Mala Javna beach — a quiet pebble cove accessible by car.
On most organised public beaches dogs are not allowed during the main bathing season.
When is the swimming season on Krk?
The swimming season on Krk usually lasts from May to September.
Sea temperatures reach around 18 °C in May, which is comfortable for more experienced swimmers, while in June the sea warms up to around 21–22 °C and the main bathing season begins. The warmest sea temperatures occur in July and August when the water often exceeds 25 °C. September is considered one of the best months for swimming, with sea temperatures still around 23 °C and fewer crowds.
In shallow coves such as Soline and Sveti Marek the sea warms up earlier in the season than on more exposed beaches.
