Sandy Dubac Bay on Rab, the wild nature of Sveti Grgur and three swimming stops

A private boat tour for groups of up to 12 guests to two islands rarely visited from Krk — Rab with its sandy northern coast and the uninhabited island of Sveti Grgur. Departure is at 9:00, but the time can be adjusted for families with children. The day includes two longer stops and a final swim, without rushing from one location to the next.

From Krk, it takes approximately one hour to reach Dubac, one of the sandy coves along the Lopar coast in northern Rab. This part of the island is unusual: while most of Rab is rocky, its northern edge is sandy, with dozens of beaches and secluded coves.

Dubac is a natural, undeveloped cove with a shallow sandy seabed, pine trees providing shade close to the shore, and no beach bars or sun loungers. Cold drinking water is available on board, and guests are welcome to bring their own food and other drinks. The first longer swimming stop here lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

At around 11:30, the tour continues to Sveti Grgur, approximately 15 minutes away. The island has no permanent residents today, and deer roam freely across it and can be fed — an experience children often remember most.

Along the coast, you can also see the remains of the former women’s prison, which formed part of the Goli Otok prison system. This is a quieter and more serious layer of the island’s story; read more about the history of Goli Otok and Sveti Grgur in our separate article.

There is another 1.5-hour stop for swimming and, if you wish, lunch.

On the return journey, the itinerary includes a final 45-minute swimming stop at Golden Beach, between Punat and Stara Baška. From there, it is approximately another 20 minutes by boat to Krk.

The boat takes up to twelve passengers and has an awning, a fridge, WC, shower and a swim ladder. It is skippered by Julian, a skipper and fisherman who knows these waters well, so the route and the breaks adjust to the group and the conditions.
