Description
Verbenka House is tucked away in a quiet lane within Vrbnik’s Old Town. For many years, it was a second home to people who had fallen in love with this place, and that can be felt in every layer of the house. Over time, it was filled with old pieces of furniture, paintings, ceramics, books and small objects connected with Vrbnik. Alongside them, the original wooden beams, stone niches, thick walls and former hearth have been carefully preserved.
The entire 90 m² house is reserved exclusively for guests. It extends over three interconnected levels, with an open, flowing layout in which the different areas lead naturally into one another rather than being divided into conventional rooms.
A large stone arch opens onto the lower level, with the dining area, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. At the centre of the space, a large wooden table provides a natural setting for shared meals and time together.
A wooden staircase leads to the spacious living area, with a sofa bed for two and access to a small private balcony. Sheltered beneath the vines and furnished with seating for four, the balcony is a peaceful outdoor corner immersed in the everyday life of the Old Town.
The uppermost level is home to a large open bedroom with a 180 cm wide double bed. Wooden floors and ceilings, small windows set into thick walls, an old dressing table with a mirror, lamps, ceramics and the preserved hearth give the room a character that could never be recreated with new furniture.
The house accommodates up to four guests and is particularly well suited to a couple, a small family or anyone who enjoys an open-plan home connected by internal stairs. All three levels are air-conditioned, and the house is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, including longer visits. Pets are welcome on request.
Verbenka lies in the heart of old Vrbnik: the nearest restaurant is around 30 metres away, the grocery shop 70 metres and the centre of the village approximately 50 metres. The sea and nearest beach are around 350 metres from the house. Guests can drive as far as the nearby Placa to unload their luggage, while free private parking is provided in Vrbnik harbour, approximately 250 metres away.
Verbenka is not a house furnished to look old. It is an old Vrbnik home that was, for many years, someone’s genuine second home — and it is precisely those years of living, choosing and preserving that have left the layers its guests can discover today.
